Hi, and Happy Smoke-free New Year!
From Alan (Staff) on 1/14/2015 10:40:26 PM
Looks like the launch will be the first week of March. We'll be talking about that more pretty shortly.
Glad to see we all made it through another set of holidays. Hope yours were satisfying!

Question about clubs From Gym_Genecanuck on 1/21/2015 6:11:55 AM HI Alan,
I am repeating this question because I do not want it to get lost.
Just checking in with you to find out if it is still part of the plan to eliminate clubs. I thought there was a thread speaking to this issue but it seems to have disappeared.
Updates are appreciated.
Thanks
Gene [button: ReplyReply to this message | button: Add to my LibraryAdd to my library] RE: Question about clubs From Alan (Staff) on 1/23/2015 12:18:47 PM Hi, Gene:
Part of the problem with the Old Q is that its db structure isn't robust enough to display information past 90 days without crashing the entire system. I saved some of the threads here in my Personal Library, and will dig up some of the explanations about club/chat features going away on the launch -- which looks like later in the first quarter.
We should have more precise word on that in the next week.
Happy Smoke-free New Year, and KTQ,
Alan

Me again:
I received confirmation from QuitNet today that yes........All clubs will be closed. The platform will be different, but apparently it was too labour intensive to maintain the clubs. Sad day for many it seems. I had almost 8 years in there, I'll miss it.......but progress is progress?
Bertram Best wishs everyone.

Hi Bertram,
I will miss the clubs there too. I hope some of the gang continue to join us here.

Quitnet Launching New Site March 3, 2015 quitnet.squarespace.com/whats-newExciting news, QuitNet community! The new QuitNet will officially launch on March 2, 2015. Here’s what you need to know for the launch: Starting at 5:00 PM EDT on February 27, Quitnet.com will be unavailable while we upgrade to the new system. At 6:00 AM EDT on Monday, March 2, the new QuitNet will be ready and available for you to begin (or continue) your journey! On March 2, we will email existing QuitNet members a special sign-up link. You'll need to use this to transfer information from your old QuitNet account to your new profile. We'll also post the link here on the blog. The first thing you will see when you visit the new QuitNet.com is a place to create a new account. Your name in the New Q will show up as your first name and the first initial of your last name, and your old QuitNet username will be a nickname on your new profile. Remember: after you create an account in the New Q, you can import your quit date, stats, and buddies from the old QuitNet into your new account. Although your library posts, Q-Mail messages, and journal entries won’t move with you to the new version of QuitNet, we’ve made it easy to download and keep them for your own records. Check out the screencast below for a preview of what you’ll see on March 2! We’re excited to share these changes with you, and can’t wait to hear what you think once you give it a try.

New Q Update On Friday, the 27th of February, QuitNet goes to sleep for the weekend at some point after 6pm. You won't be able to get into the website after that. On March 2, if you log into www.quitnet.com, you will be redirected to a temporary new Q landing page. The "create account" link on that page will take you to the new registration flow, where you will create your new QuitNet account and migrate your current account's data. Your stats, buddies, testimonial data will go into the new site automatically at that point, and you'll download Qmails, journal/About Me info, and Personal Library to your desktop. We'll also be sending you a special migration link via email, and posting it at the New Q blog. If you're currently a sponsored member (your employer pays for Premium, phone coaching, NRT, etc), and log into a variation of quitnet.com (for instance, a page like quitnet.com/ge), you'll land on a different page than other members to register a new account, but you'll need to use a special link -- specific to your sponsor -- we send you via email to download your Qmails, journal/About Me info, and Personal Library. Make sure you have all your email preferences turned on in your profile area, and look for that email. Going to your old address will get you to creating your new account, but not to the migration of your old account data; you'll need that special link from the email. If you're a formerly-sponsored member with 'lifetime Premium', who's still be using the old url and being redirected to global, www.quitnet.com (you may not realize it), you'll be treated like regular, unsponsored members So we're letting them know that they won't be getting a special migration link attached to their former sponsor. The moral of the story is to update your email address ASAP, and double-check your spam box. Look for the email with the links, whether you're sponsored or not, just to be sure. For answers to your questions about migration to the new Q, go here (or the newest post) and ask or comment: quitnet.squarespace.com/whats-new/2015/1/27/3-2-1-launchTo discuss the migration with other members, visit You Are The Q: forums.quitnet.com/community/clubs/message_list.asp?conference_id=1&forum_id=6097&club_id=6800We'll be doing a lot more communication over the next ten days about this exciting (and maybe a little scary!) event! KTQ Alan
